Capybara Endless Runner and Arcade Games: Free Picks

Capybara Endless Runner and Arcade Games: Free Picks

There are fewer real capybara endless games than the listicles suggest. The two worth installing are Capybara Rush, a 3D runner with five modes and more than 60 capybaras to collect, and Capybara Crossing, a Frogger-style hopper where you cross roads, rivers and railways. Both are free. Capybara Stars adds a timed score-attack mode to a matching puzzle. Capybara Go! often appears on these lists, but it’s a text-based roguelike RPG, not a runner.

An earlier version of this blog listed capybara games we couldn’t find on any store. Everything below is a real, current listing, and each entry says what the game borrows from older arcade games.

Capybara Rush: the capybara lane runner #

Capybara Rush is the closest thing to “Subway Surfers with a capybara.” It’s listed under TapMen on Google Play and under developer Popa Radu on the App Store. Your capybara runs forward while you swipe to change lanes and tap to jump, grabbing oranges, ice cream, bananas and secret letters that buy new capybaras.

What stands out is the variety. There are more than 60 capybaras to collect, including pirate, shark, chef, vampire, zombie, alien and superhero versions, plus pet costumes like an axolotl, a dinosaur and a pig. Five modes mix running with driving, swimming, flying planes and stacking capybaras into towers. Collecting things along a path is its old-school idea, a staple of runners and platformers for decades.

It’s rated for ages 3 and up on Google Play and 9+ on the App Store, and it sells a $2.99 No Ads upgrade and coin bundles. At 452.3 MB it’s also a big download. Good for players who want lots of characters and modes. Not for you if you want a game with no purchase prompts. Our guide on how to get characters in Capybara Rush goes deeper.

Capybara Crossing: the capybara road-crossing hopper #

Capybara Crossing takes the Crossy Road formula and stars a capybara, “the world’s chillest animal, in a hurry for once.” Instead of running automatically, you move one square at a time: tap to hop forward, swipe to go in any direction. Every lane you clear is a point.

Each run builds a fresh world from four lane types:

  • Grass with trees, bushes and rocks to route around
  • Roads with cars, trucks, buses and quick motorcycles, each lane with its own speed and direction
  • Rivers where logs and lily pads drift and turtles dive, so you hop off before they go under
  • Railways where crossing lights flash for about a second and a half before a train crosses the screen

It’s the most arcade game in the capybara corner of the store. The lanes and diving turtles come straight from Konami’s Frogger (1981), and Frogger’s 30-second timer becomes an eagle: stand still for five seconds and a warning flashes, and at eight it carries your capybara off. You get one optional revive per run, the friendly version of an arcade continue.

Coins you pick up buy 19 capybaras, from the 100-coin Baby Capy to the 3,500-coin Space Capy, and many come with perks such as coin magnets, a smaller hitbox or a one-hit shield. There are no in-app purchases, no account, and it runs offline. Ads pay the bills: a banner, an occasional ad after a game over, and optional videos for 50 coins or a revive. Good for short sessions, one-thumb play and anyone who likes Frogger or Crossy Road. Not for you if you want an auto-runner, since you control every hop.

Capybara Stars: a puzzle with a score-attack mode #

Capybara Stars, also listed under Popa Radu on the App Store, is a matching puzzle: draw lines to connect matching capybaras, earn new characters and build a habitat. Its blitz mode is the arcade part, a race to score as much as you can before time runs out, the same idea as the timed modes arcade puzzle games have always had. It’s rated 4+ and shows banner ads, with a No Ads purchase available.

What about Capybara Go? #

Habby’s Capybara Go! is one of the most downloaded capybara games, which is why it lands on runner lists. It isn’t one. It’s a text-based roguelike RPG: your capybara sets off on short randomized adventures, and you make quick choices as events pop up, with pets and equipment to build around. The genre name comes from Rogue, a 1980 computer game where death sent you back to the start, and Capybara Go! keeps that shape with permanent upgrades between runs. There’s no dodging or steering, and the App Store rates it 13+ with loot boxes and chat. If that style appeals, see our list of cute animal games like Capybara Go.

Other capybara games you’ll see in the store #

Search “capybara” on Google Play and dozens of titles appear, such as Capybara Jump: Cake Tower, Capybara Rush: Draw To Home and Super Capybara Adventure. Many share names, so check the developer before you tap install. We haven’t included games whose gameplay we couldn’t confirm from their listings.

When you’ve played every capybara game #

The genres these games borrow from are much bigger than the capybara corner of the store:

  • Crossy Road (Hipster Whale, 2014) is the hopper that started the modern trend, with hundreds of characters won from a 100-coin prize machine.
  • Subway Surfers (2012) is the lane runner Capybara Rush most resembles. It was the first game on Google Play to pass one billion downloads, and a sequel, Subway Surfers City, arrived in February 2026.

Quick tips for casual players #

  • In a hopper, keep moving. Hop sideways on grass while you wait for a gap instead of standing still.
  • Watch the lights. In Capybara Crossing, flashing crossing lights mean a train is about a second and a half away. Never linger on the tracks.
  • In a runner, look ahead, not at your character. Your eyes should be on the obstacles coming up, and your thumb will follow.
  • Bank the easy early points. Both styles speed up as you go, so play the opening steadily.
