1. Pixel Dungeon (original): the tiniest #
Watabou’s Pixel Dungeon is a classic turn-based roguelike: pick a hero, descend randomly generated dungeon floors, and try to reach the Amulet of Yendor. At 4.2 MB it’s the smallest game here. Slide numbered tiles and merge matching pairs until you reach 2048. Androbaby’s version offers boards from 3x3 to 8x8, saves automatically, and plays offline. It’s the ideal game for a queue, since a round can last a minute or an hour.
4. Mekorama: a small robot in 3D dioramas #
Guide a wobbly little robot through tiny mechanical 3D levels, rotating the view to find a path, flipping switches and moving blocks. The physics are charming and the art is clean. It’s free, rated well by players, and was last updated in December 2023.
5. Dr. Driving: the calm driving game #
Instead of racing, Dr. Driving is about driving well: parking, handling city traffic, and saving fuel. The controls are an on-screen wheel and pedals. It’s a surprisingly satisfying offline game that rewards patience.
6. Shattered Pixel Dungeon: the best roguelike for its size #
The maintained, open-source successor to Pixel Dungeon, with more classes, items and quests. Version 4.0.0 arrived on September 9, 2026 and its developer calls it “arguably Shattered’s biggest update yet”. It’s free, with optional cosmetic purchases that don’t block progress, and it plays offline. It’s the pick for long trips.
7. DroidFish Chess: Stockfish in your pocket #
A free, open-source chess app built on the Stockfish engine, which is strong enough to beat any human. Play against it at any level, analyze games, and load PGN files. It’s ad-supported, with an option to go ad-free.
8. Andor’s Trail: a full RPG with no ads #
An open-source fantasy RPG with turn-based combat, 608 maps and 84 quests. It has no ads, no in-app purchases and no DLC, it needs no internet, and it runs on older phones. It’s hard to find a better deal in any size category.

If you can spare the space, it’s a good offline pick. It runs entirely on the device with no account, has no in-app purchases, and plays one-handed in short runs. Only the ads need a connection.
Tips for keeping small games small #
- Check the real size after installing. Look in your phone’s app settings under storage. Some games download extra data on first launch.
- Don’t clear storage casually. Many offline games save progress only on the phone. Clearing an app’s storage (not its cache) can wipe your progress.
- Test offline at home. Turn on airplane mode, switch off Wi-Fi, and play a full round before a trip.
